Design Brief

To design a disaster relief donation experience that educates people about the impact of disasters, enables transparent and accountable contributions, and builds donor trust to improve conversion and long-term engagement.

Concept Note

The project proposes a transparent disaster relief donation system that educates the public about on-ground realities while enabling accountable, impact-driven contributions. Donors can support clearly defined, real-time needs, track their donations end to end, and receive verified updates on impact. By reducing inefficiencies and irrelevant donations, the system builds trust, improves donor confidence, and encourages sustained engagement in disaster relief.

Prototype

An interactive kiosk called"Helping hands" provides disaster information that needs the utmost attention and funds to overcome the situation. It also acts as a payment counter for immediate transfer and can be strategically placed in places like malls, airports and other public area’s waiting spaces.

The users interact with the Kiosk by keeping their palm on the digital screens' palm image. This act signifies the action of lending one's hand to help or lift others back from pain. The kiosk displays relevant information about current disasters and natural calamities

Users can place orders by choosing the food items based on their preferences and donation amount. Also, adjust the quantity of the items which they wish to donate and see the total in prior.

The user can make the payment either through debit/credit cards or by scanning QR code and pay at their comfort. Once the order is placed the user gets details about delivery time on the kiosk screen and a text message to track the package status till it gets delivered.

The registered members of national disaster relief management or NGOs can access the main portal to create a campaign once the disaster is recognised. They can add sufficient details to educate and create awareness for the donors' community. The donation could be made either through direct money or by sending necessary goods by connecting with nearby vendors through kiosk or link.

The registered vendors will receive notification regarding the orders and dashboards which displays items that need to be dispatched and the history of orders. Once the vendor dispatches the items he will receive a QR code image that has to be stuck on to the parcel and his payment for the same.

The registered logistics partner will receive package details and a route map to pick up the items from the vendor shop and delivers the items safely to the campsites.

The rescue team members at campsites on receiving the packages will scan the QR codes first to confirm it and check for the right items. On the other end, the donor will receive notifications about the successful delivery and a thanks note from the campsite with photos of survivors having the donated food.
